Commercial Pilot

Commercial pilot training is one of the final steps into a career in aviation. The training required to complete the course takes you through the full performance range of the aircraft.

The following is required to be eligible for the commercial checkride:

Minimum of 250 hours of total flight time

100 hours Pilot in Command

50 hours of cross country flight time

50 hours must be in an airplane

20 hours of training for the commercial

10 hours of advanced instrument training

5 hours of night VFR

1 cross country flight of 300MN, with 3 landings - one straight line distance of at least 250MN

Most of these requirements will be met by the time-building flying done between private pilot certification and the start of commercial pilot certification.

When starting a commercial training program, the first step is ensuring the requirements are meet and the dual cross countries are done (both day and night flights).  A pilot wishing to finish up quickly can complete the training in as little as a week and a half to two weeks.
